In addition to managing a growing client practice, Matt serves as the Partner in Charge of Staff Education and Development at RBMS. He provides expert tax planning, compliance, and business advisory services to individuals, businesses, and organizations across the South Plains. With a deep commitment to delivering practical, proactive solutions, Matt helps clients navigate complex tax issues, minimize liabilities, and achieve their financial goals.
Prior to entering the accounting profession, Matt served as a middle school teacher and coach in Lubbock ISD. He draws on this educational background every day, using his experience breaking down difficult concepts for students to help clients better understand complex tax regulations, business strategies, and financial decisions. This unique perspective allows him to explain technical matters clearly and develop solutions that are both effective and easy to implement.
A Texas Tech University graduate, Matt earned his Bachelor’s degree and Master of Science in Accounting from the Rawls College of Business. He holds the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation in Texas and is a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA). His expertise spans a broad range of industries, including medical practices, oil & gas, and construction.
Matt is known for his approachable style and dedication to building long-term client relationships. He combines technical proficiency with strategic insight, whether assisting with tax preparation and planning, business valuations, or consultative guidance on growth and compliance matters. Clients value his clear communication and ability to translate complex regulations into actionable strategies.
Outside the office, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife Sherre and daughter Madison. He is actively involved at Indiana Avenue Baptist Church, where he has served as Chairman of the Finance Committee and a co-Sunday School teacher. He’s also an avid Dallas Stars hockey fan.
