Carolyn Robinson Stephenson is the firm’s partner in charge of human resources, in addition to having substantial tax and accounting practice. She serves clients in various industries with a range of tax and accounting services, including tax preparation for individuals, businesses, estates, trusts, and non-profit organizations; tax planning and consulting over setting up an LLC and the tax structure options, tax debt negotiations and resolutions, business planning and structures for sole proprietors, partnerships and corporations.
Carolyn has advanced graduate studies from Texas Tech University’s master’s degree in accounting with emphasis in Tax program. She has a Bachelor of Business degree from Lubbock Christian University. Carolyn was certified by the IRS to prepare tax returns and represent clients as an Enrolled Agent in 1979 and joined the firm in 1979. She is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Texas. Her prior experience before joining the firm included owning and operating two H&R Block franchises in the New Orleans area for a period of 9 years.
Carolyn has more than 50 years of public accounting experience that includes preparation and review of all aspects of federal and state tax filings for LLCs as individuals, partnerships, corporations and subchapter S entities; estates, trust and non-profit organizations and managing the tax department for a national firm. She has represented hundreds of clients in the IRS audit process, including appeals to the U.S. Tax Court; resolving tax debt, such as submitting offer in compromise, installment agreements, penalty abatements, innocent spouse petitions and appeals. She has testified as an expert witness. She has facilitated clients with like kind exchanges and buying and selling of businesses. She has also taught tax and accounting classes for Lubbock Christian University and Coopers and Lybrand.
Carolyn is very active in her church and community. She is a ministry leader in the church program for single moms, widows and their children. She has served on several boards: Goodwill Industries of Lubbock for some 20 years, CASA, Executive Forum, and several other nonprofit private foundations. Carolyn enjoys working in church programs such as camp for kids, mission trips and marriage retreats. She especially enjoys any time with husband, Charles, kids, grandkids and great grandkids.
